When you apply for a Hong Kong passport, you will have to also submit certain documents along with the application form. And to help you out in this case, we have listed out the documents that are to be submitted besides the application forms to be filled for a Hong Kong passport.

Keep it in mind that when you have applied for a Hong Kong passport in person then you should also get original supporting documents. However, when the applicants opt for the drop in application or postal then the supporting documents are to be photocopied on an A – 4 size paper. Apart from this, photograph as well as a cheque has to be submitted.

Documents required for applicants who are 16 years or older than that:

  1. Hong Kong permanent identity card is to be submitted

Documents to be submitted by those applicants who fall in the age bracket of 16 to 17:

  1. Birth certificate
  2. Identity card or any other valid travel document (Hong Kong) of either the consenting parent or the legal guardian
  3. Marriage certificate of the applicants who are married

Documents required for those children who are under 16:

  1. Permanent identity card of the child
  2. Child’s birth certificate
  3. Either the consenting parent’s or the legal guardian’s identity card or any other travel document that is valid

Documents required for a child’s passport who is under 11:

In addition to the above stated documents, applicants who are 11 years or less than that will have to submit a school document such as school handbook or other identity document.

Other documents required for children aged 11 or below that:

For the children who are under 11 & the ones who do not have the Hong Kong permanent identity cards will have to submit the following documents as well –

  1. 2 identical photographs
  2. ROP3 or the Hong Kong permanent identity card application form
  3. Child’s birth certificate

Note:

Applicants do not have to send along the original documents when they submit the application via drop – in box or post. They will have to only submit the photocopies of the said documents.

Other things (documents) required for people who are not born in Hong Kong:

The set of documents listed below are required to be submitted when the applicant is applying for the 1st time for a Hong Kong passport –

  1. Birth certificate or the official census paper
  2. Identity card of Hong Kong
  3. Parent’s Hong Kong permanent identity card
  4. Current travel document
  5. Chinese citizenship official proof (if available)
