What is the eligibility criteria to renew an Estonian passport?

To get the Estonian passport renewed, you will have to be a national of the Republic of Estonia. Apart from this, you will have to be a holder of the Estonian passport. This passport is issued according to the age of the applicant as there are basically 2 categories namely (1) child passport & (2) adult passport.

  1. Current or a recently issued Estonian passport
  2. Identity proof
  3. 1 colour recent photograph
  4. Marriage certificate (this document is applicable only to a few applicants)

Steps to renew an Estonian passport:

  1. One will have to go to the Service office to get the passport renewal application form
  2. Or you can also get it online by sending across your name as well as the e – mail address to the concerned authorities
  3. The applicant has to then fill this renewal application form very wisely
  4. In the next step, the applicant has to attach the documents that are required to be given along with the passport renewal application form
  5. The applicant can pay the processing fee which is also known as the passport charges to the authorities
  6. The fee can be paid through an online transfer or in cash or using a debit or a credit card
  7. Next step is to submit (in – person) the application form at the Police & Border Guard Board
  8. At the time when the renewal application is successfully submitted, you shall receive the acknowledgement
  9. Make use of this application number to schedule an appointment with the authorities
  10. This appointment would be required to give the bio – metric details which include finger prints / photograph & the signature of the applicant

What is the validity of an Estonian passport?

Essentially, an Estonian passport will be valid for about 5 years from the date of issue.
