Applicants Photo is more important for security reasons because if the applicant’s photo is clean & clear, applicant can be easily identified. If the applicant’s photo does not reach the requirements prescribed by the New Zealand Passport office, application may not be forwarded. New Zealand Citizens while applying Passport they must submit 2 identical & most recent Photos which meets the following requirements.

  • Photos must be in standard size : 35 mm X 45 mm
  • Photos should be identical & less than six months old

Step 5- Witness:

Witness must be a citizen of New Zealand with valid Passport; Witness is an Individual who helps the New Zealand Passport Office in recognizing the Passport applicant.

Witness is a person who must attest the applicant’s Passport application form, helps the Passport applicant in identifying & simultaneously helps the New Zealand Passport office in recognizing the Passport applicant.

Eligibility for Witness:

  • Witness must be a New Zealand Citizen & should be 16 years of age or above
  • Witness must be a valid New Zealand Passport holder
  • Witness Passport validity must be at least 2 years
  • Witness have known the applicant for at least 1 year
  • Witness must provide day time telephone number
  • Witness must be able to provide his personal details date of birth, address( if required)
  • Witness must not be a relative to the Passport applicant by birth or Marriage
  • Witness must not live at the Passport applicant’s address & Witness should not have any other relationship with the Passport applicant.
  • Witness should not be a partner or spouse to the applicant

Role of Witness:

  • Witness must fill the Section 13 of the Passport application form of the applicants who are applying Passport for first time
  • Witness must fill the Section 13 with their own hand writing
  • Witness must attest one of the photos of the applicant at the back side
  • Witness must sign at the bottom of the page 9 of the application form
